A bit of useless info for you, but perhaps an interesting comparison.

I remember Halls cost me £580 a term (10 weeks) in my first year, back in 91-92 (Exeter). That was in the days of full board. So £58 per week all in (and nil course fees, and a grant of around £780 Per term (I forget the exact amount) if parents were low income). And a pint was 75p (or 70p if you returned your plastic pint glass to the bar)

I was in nursing school then, we were deducted around £40 a month for our accommodation including all bills (not food), from our meagre salary.

How things have changed!

Is there any catering with the halls . Our son just finished uni at bath and in first year he got dinner and snack included which was a great help as he could have a full Sunday lunch

Not uni but when my son moved out for work he managed on around £35 a week. I used to do the odd shop online which he would collect ( he had a car ) or I would send him a Tesco gift card plus of course when we visited we always seemed to go food shopping 😂

I lived quite easily on £50/£60 a week, though my parents would also pay for train tickets home and do a start of term and mid term shop when they visited.
