No more diesel Ford Fiestas

Ford have announced the death of the Diesel Ford Fiesta.
Dwindling sales and the launch of the MHEV variants have made it unviable.
Whatever is in stock is the last available.

Pity. My lads 86bhp diesel fiesta is quite nippy, but this is the future, with most diesels going away over the next few years

I hope your son doesn’t lose too much having a diesel when he wants to ever change it.

We both moved to diesels years ago based on the government advice at that time. Subsequently that’s all changed.

We’ve since changed to one petrol and one hybrid. But not easy changing if you can’t afford to change a car often and follow advice on what’s best when you buy.

We both had diesels and were totally happy with them, but when we started to read of areas around us charging people more for parking them or driving them if they had a diesel we decided sadly when we changed we had to change to something else.

Yes diesel has been economical but unfortunately the exhaust chemicals Are exceptionally harmful. The motor company’s should have done more with making petrol cleaner and more economical. Electric cars are still very expensive and not viable for many. A pal has a Tesla after driving bmw and Mercedes for years as company car and says the best car he has ever had. 350 miles on charge

Diesel Fiestas were never a good idea in my opinion. Most owners drive less than 8,000 miles so never receiving the full benefit of a Diesel engine but face larger servicing and maintenance bills than the equivalent petrol models.

If I was buying an X3, I would stick with the diesel.

I always had diesels but terrible for environment. Electric only for me now- faster, instant torque, more fun to drive, cheap to run (but not buy yet) no road tax and next to no servicing.

I have a diesel GLC and I've been umming and arring about changing it for a hybrid or electric, as my drive to work is going to be longer and I don't need an SUV. But my car is worth about £23k and I just cannot get a hybrid or electric car of a similar quality/specification for anywhere near that money, even second hand. So my feeling is to stick with the diesel for now.

The majority of the population can't afford a new car regardless of the fuel type.

majority of the population?

The term "afford" needs to be more defined there... Its never been as cheap to be in a new car these days with the amount of cheap hp, pcp, leases etc available..

Getting rid of oil burners in small compact cars is the right thing to do, even in a x3, I would much prefer a m40i over the 20d
