When Coronavirus broke, I thought the value of DVC could take a hefty hit, now I’m not so sure.

I was thinking it will still probably boil down to the economy and continuing demand for WDW which is still an unknown quantity.

I have a December 1 bed booked for Boardwalk and can envisage a situation where we don’t know if we can go 30 days out, and therefore basically lose the points into holding.

But I’m thinking I could probably rent out that reservation to the domestic market very easily if this happens, maybe even at a premium if the demand for rooms is there given the product is now off sale so to speak?
I've got SSR studio in December possibility of being able to rent is definitely an option if we are not allowed to go.

It took 3 days for them to rent out our points at AKL last July (for Feb dates this year... All very fortunate in retrospect!)

Yes that’s slow in my experience, but I think it’s bound to be- no one knew what was happening. As it becomes clearer and opening dates are known I suppose we will either see demand depressed generally, or as the weeks go on, increase a lot as people realise they cannot get cash bookings. I suspect we could see demand pick up when the parks open up and people see it on TV and in the papers.

Similar to the resale market I guess it will depend on how many points go up on the rental market. When there are 85 Polynesian 160 point listings on the market the price moves down some but when there are only 8 to 10 listings the price stays steady or goes up.

I am sure the same thing happens on the rental market. If the normal amount of points on the rental increases by 10% you would think not so easy to rent out but if the points on the rental market drops then the rental companies will start offering more money to owners. Of course, if you have a pending reservation then it becomes more unique.

You are right. I am getting e-mails by the minute with offers from a US DVC rental company. I think demand has skyrocketed, and perhaps the rental price as it's the only way to secure accomodation right now. A short term bubble though I think.
