Car Hire Miami

Flying to Miami in August, staying there 2 nights then on to Orlando.

Dont really want to have a car whilst in Miami so was going to book with Alamo Brits to pick a car up in the hotels area on our 3rd day.

Does anyone know if you get a choice of cars when you do this (like at the airport) or do you just get what you are given?

Generally, off airport locations have a lot less cars available, so you are likely to be allocated one automatically, with no option to choose.

Depending on where in Miami you are staying, you go back to the airport and pick up from there, where there is a lot more choice.

Hi,

I used Alamo Brits to book a car in August this year from Collins Ave. I did not get to go to the garage and choose one (it is only a small area within a multi-story car park) but I kind of got a choice at the desk. He said he had a Chevrolet and Kia available in the catagory car I had booked and as he thought Cevrolet was a better car he gave me that one. I supose I could have asked for the Kia if I had known the difference or had a preference.

Thats great thanks. Will just have to suck it up and get what Im given. Shame as choosing my car is one of my fave parts of the holiday. Theres no way Im driving from Miami airport into Miami though AND paying extortionate parking garage fees.

Wise choice Mr Parry! We had good cars the 2 years we picked up on Collins Avenue. They had quite big garages with both Dollar and Alamo.

Ha Jo, I lost any confidence I had in the biblical rain on the drive to Vero Beach last year when I made Clair drive and shut my eyes all the way. And after hearing your Miami stories there was no way I was going to risk it.
