Virgin flights and tropical storms - panicking!

We fly out on Saturday and I'm really worrying about the weather affecting us getting out there, as there's currently a 40-50% chance of the weather system developing into a tropical storm.

Does anyone have any experience of flying out there in or over a tropical storm? Are Virgin likely to cancel flights at the first hint of a storm, or do they usually power on regardless unless its really bad i.e. hurricane territory?

I'm desperately trying to ignore the forecasts and we have packed all our ponchos, but I can't believe the forecast when we have been waiting for this for a year

Ignore the forecasts unless people start talking hurricanes. Just keep an eye on your flight. Virgin will let you know if there are any delays.

We’ve been loads in September which is hurricane season and only once have we ever been caught up in one which was Irma last year.

You’ll be fine.

I wouldn’t worry. They usually change the route if storms are a problem. We lost a day due to Hurricane Matthew in 2016, but Virgin were great.

Tropical storms are par for the course, I’ve been in loads. Don’t worry.

We fly out on Sunday, I guess a tropical storm to them is similar to a light drizzle for us! They are used to it and geared up to cope.

The last week of May looks a bit hit & miss but the 1st week in June looks brighter.

I've bought my ponchos in this country rather than Disney so that should save me a small fortune!

They'll still fly in a TS, it's a hurricane that you need to worry about.

according to the US hurricane centre it's unlikely to come to anything more than heavy rain for several days.

Hi - as others have said you have nothing to worry about with the weather
I have flown in to Orlando about 5 times now mostly in August when storms are much more of a daily event and never had an issue
They will reroute around really bad weather if they need to so honestly I would not worry...

Last time we flew really bad storm over Orlando Airport. It landed at Sanford, we waited 30 mins, then took off again and landed at Orlando. Shortest flight I have ever been on!
