twilight check in getting cases back

Hi all, travel Friday morning but doing twilight check in.

in light of the weather over about to hit MCO we are discussing the worst case that our flight on Friday morning is cancelled due to no landing at MCO.

We are thinking that if it is cancelled how rapid we could get our cases back.

i dont fancy the stress of trying to find out what virgins next flight is and then getting our cases back.

we are starting the think the worst and Friday morning (if cancelled) we get on the phone to and see if there are indirect flights leaving LHR that afternoon.

That way the internal flight to MCO would be later and shorter if there are cancellations or delays.

What do you think about the twilight check in idea?

(very stressed but thanks)

Maybe just keep your cases with you and don't bother with Twilight? One less thing to worry about?

You know, I wonder if they actually refuse to accept cases at Twilight if the flight is known to be not going, or going late. This happened to us once, but I don't know if the real reason was due to security concerns rather than lateness of plane...

We had a flight cancelled a few years ago, we had only checked in 30 mins before it came up cancelled on the board and we couldn't get our cases back. We were put on a flight the next afternoon. If you're worried, I wouldn't do twilight check in.

Ken, I concur with other Dibbers, keep your luggage with you... it could be a scramble trying to sort out alternative flights and retrieve your luggage from hundreds of others in the secure area. Cut back on the stress.

Keep you luggage however don't expect even indirect flights to be easy to get as it will be all flights into MCO so internal flights will also be messed up.

VA have procedures in place - so just relax.

Our flight got cancelled on a Thursday some years ago because of a hurricane. We drove home and immediately got on the phone to make alternative arrangements. We couldn't get flights out until Tuesday. Think the problem through. Its not the airline cancelling because they are frightened. Its your arrival airport cancelling because of damage or potential damage. If something big and nasty hits an airport they have to test all of their own operating systems for safety, they also have to know that all external support systems are available in case of an incident. Its not as simple as cleaning the windows and then reopening.
