Oh that’s dreadful FT. Which vets did you use? At DDs you can pay prior to or on arrival so that you can leave without any stress.

That's terrible, when we had our cat put to sleep, they lit a candle in the waiting room so that other people waiting knew what was happening and then they offered for us to come back and pay another time, when we were more composed, really compassionate.

ETA: they have a sign in the waiting room, explaining what is happening when the candle is lit, so others know.

Two years ago our pet’s insurance company wanted an itemised bill and our vets charged an admin fee to provide it. The insurance wouldn’t pay the admin fee, so we had to pay the first £200 of the claim plus the £32 admin fee before receiving the rest of the claim back.

That is absolutely awful, when our beautiful cat was put to sleep the vet said not to worry about payment but pop by the following week and settle the bill.
