This is going to sound very strange but we stayed in the most beautiful room in the Albert Dock Premier Inn Liverpool one very snowy December night. Original stonework and a huge room.

It’s probably not there in the top hotels of the world although it was a beautiful 5* hotel but we used to stay at the Hotel Principe Felipe at La Manga Club every summer when our kids were younger. It was a gorgeous hotel with amazing staff and for us it was home from home.

For me it’s the following:

Old Ranch Inn Palm Springs - love this place, small and adult only. Rooms lovely and straight out onto the pool.

Hilton Grand Vacations Club Flamingo Las Vegas - great location, non smoking, non casino hotel. This is our go to hotel in Vegas and it’s free parking.

Sheraton Vistana Villages on I Drive - great for just me and DH. Great location and rooms are great.

I stayed at the Langham on 5th Ave in New York in a room that over looked the empire state and 5th. Was a huge corner suite.

5 nights was like £600 for some unknown reason price glitch perhaps. As now it's more than that a night ! So not only an amazing hotel a bargain

Torrey Pines is was also stunning

We don't stay in many hotels as we often use Airbnb etc. But the best hotel stay I've had is at a boutique hotel the Wawel Queen in Krakow.
I've booked again for Krakow this July and the same hotel as I couldn't see anything else that would improve on our stay .

Copper Creek Cabin at Wilderness Lodge, got an upgrade for two nights due to some work being carried out near our studio! Heaven, a chance to do something our DVC points would never stretch to! Truly pixie dust! Sitting in the hot tub with a glass of wine looking out at the lake - magic!

Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, just another level of service and decor. Again, we got a free upgrade to a harbour view room because Virgin Holidays had forgotten to book our transfer and hotel despite us booking a full package! We had to pay for the first night and then wait for it to be sorted out next day as it was almost midnight by the time we had found our own way to the hotel and been told we didn’t have a reservation! Next morning they sorted it all out and offered that they would move everything for us to a much bigger room. It was stunning.

Grand Floridian was our first stay using our DVC points so that will always be special, but there was a lot of scaffolding up which was a shame, so we hope to go back when everything is refreshed and beautiful. Our 2-bed villa was gorgeous though, the rooms were huge. The shower enclosure was bigger than my whole en-suite!

Due to Thomas Cook going bust we had a nightmare with our mom and son trip in 2019. We had to book one night at Yacht Club to tie in with the new flight. We couldn’t extend our Art of Animation stay. We had a delay on the flight out due to a leaking toilet, my bag was badly damaged when it came off the carousel and we were late getting to the hotel. I’d apologised to the lady at the Magical Express check in that we were late due to these problems and I can only assume she did something because when we arrived at Yacht Club they said we had been upgraded to Concierge level! We were taken up to a seated check in desk, handed a mimosa each, then taken to a beautiful room overlooking the Christmas tree and the water. We had to pinch ourselves. The room and balcony were wonderful, it all felt very festive. We really appreciated the free food and seemingly bottomless mimosas. The location on the Boardwalk was great.

There’s a bit of a theme here, 3 of the 4 involved unexpected (unasked for) upgrades, no shouting or demanding involved, just really good customer service that is worth so much more than just a flashy room (though the flashy rooms were very nice!).
