I have researched and the only difference I can see between 180 and 200 model is the BHP. Now in a 1.3L I don’t think this will make a massive difference and can only seem to find A180 in the edition we want so want to know that this model will be ok or should we go for A200? Any advice would be great, as we just seem to go round on circles, thank you.
Are you talking new or second hand?

What budget do you have?

To be honest the new BMW 1 series is the other car I was looking at.

The BMW 1 series is the model to go for in this segment.

No don’t want new, looking at around 2 years old. Looking up to 30k.

We’ve got a 2L F Pace at moment and this is what’s worried me about hearing the A class is sluggish. Also we’ve always had 2L cars - VW Tiguan and VW Golf GTI so used to cars having a bit of go in them. I’m not interested in speed per say, but don’t want a sluggish car. We’re not heavy on mileage as I only work 1 mile from home literally.

So following comments we’re going to look at the BMW 1 series, new shape looks amazing! Also new Golf GTI, (hubby still loves them) may take a look. Any others to compare?

So glad I asked now as friend’s daughter has recently gone with the A class after a Polo GTI and said it was sluggish too, so along with these comments it’s a no no.

I personally wouldnt touch the Merc. if the BMW 1 or the VW Golf were the other options.
In fact, I wouldnt go for a Merc., full stop. I really don't like them.

Is EV an option? There are some real bargains to be had with 2 year old EVs.

If you like a high driving position but would like a smaller car I would consider BMW X1, Audi Q2, Cupra Formentor (more medium sized), or VW T-Roc / T-Cross.
