Altalantis the palm. Standard room but nice view directly over the fish tank. They put cake and a card in the room for my mom's birthday.

I remember many years ago my mom got an upgrade to a suite at a hotel in San Diego that was nice.

The rasa ria shangrlia was nice in kota kinablu. But we both said we would rather have spent the money and stayed in the jungle for an extra night.

I don't stay in many fancy hotels, rather spend my money on other things on the holiday.. Most all look the same inside tbh.

Best room was the President Suite at Royal Pacific for our honeymoon. Best upgrade we've ever had!

The best hotel was Sofitel The Palm in Dubai.

Isn't it funny... I've not stayed in that many fabulous hotels, but I stayed herewith my mum in 2023 and it was DIRE 🙈😂. We had someone's dirty underwear left on the floor in our room, and it was also really dirty. Thick thick dust around skirting boards, bathroom, and beds. We asked to be moved and our next room was even more dusty. I'm not talking a light layer, but thick dirty grime on the skirting boards and over the beds. So we got a third room, which was no better! I went down to complain, again, and was told I was just looking for something to complain about 😳😬. We eventually got 1 night refunded but I was not impressed!

I once stayed at a very fancy 5* hotel in Portugal on a sales conference. Was the fanciest place I've ever stayed for sure. With golf buggies moving people to different parts of the complex. I had a suite to myself, I've never known such luxury ✨️

We stayed at the Mena House hotel in Cairo, in the Aga Kahn Suite which was all gold inside! And had a garden overlooking the pyramids! Then we flew to stay in the Oberoi hotel in Hurghada, and stayed in the Royal Villa with a butler and a private pool…..ahhhhhh

The View Hotel, Monument Valley. All the rooms face the mittens. The view when you pull back the curtains was jaw dropping. To sit on the balcony and take it all in was amazing!

The Best Western Island Palms on Shelter Island in San Diego. We have stayed there 5 times now and it is in a fabulous location. It overlooks the Coronado Naval base with amazing views of the aircraft taking off and landing and rather large ships sailing by. Even saw the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier sailing out to sea.
Also has a brilliant bar on the pier!

Animal Kingdom Lodge. We took our granddaughter Caitlin just before her 3rd birthday and to see her face sitting on the balcony watching the giraffes brought tears to our eyes.

Reading other posts, I’ve just remembered my stay at The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai. Room with a personal Butler. Stayed here on my birthday 2011 or 2012. Business Trip (which is why it slipped my mind)

Fairmont The Palm - the biggest room and balcony we have ever stayed in. Room overlooking the beach, great food choices.

Barefoot Madeira Beach - this was a few years ago, the hotel wasn’t anything special but it was right on the beach, minutes walk from St John’s Pass and dolphins swam past us whilst in the sea.

Port Orleans French Quarter - at the time our two girls thought this was the best hotel ever.

It’s not the most luxurious, it’s busy, full of kids and getting beds by the pool is a nightmare, but my favourite is possibly Aulani.
In the U.K., I like Salutation Inn, at Ambleside and we go back every year, even though there’s a lot fancier hotels in Ambleside. Breakfast there is one of the best also.
In the U.K. also The Grove stood out, where I was given a suite style room as I was speaking at a conference. The England football team, NFL team and heads of state (even Trump et al have stayed there at the NATO conference) stay there- very nice!
The best luxury hotels are in the UAE and Qatar. All have been excellent we have stayed in, and have service on another level.
