how late can we leave to cancel VA flights

As some dibbers may know from my other posts, we are booked to fly to South Africa on the 24th Dec. with Virgin Atlantic (flights only) ... now, if by some miracle when the Gov announces the updated travel restrictions on the 18th Dec and South Africa suddenly goes Green, we MAY still consider flying out - still undecided.

My question to all the knowledgeable dibbers, is how late can I leave it to cancel our flights? I understand it will be for a travel voucher and not money back as I am doing the cancelling and not Virgin Atlantic?

Thought I would ask on here before spending two hours of my life listening to hold music to get through to VA.

I believe flight only is up until the day before.

Hey ho ... so Virgin have cancelled our flights

Have requested a refund which has been actioned

Feeling so so sad
