NYC in January
Hi just staring to plan DD18 birthday trip to NYC in January and wondering if we can do the 911 museum and Ellis island on one day. We don’t want to rush either. Thanks

Hi there,
I didn’t do the 9/11 museum but my husband and daughter did... i think they spent 3-4 hrs there ... Ellis Island we were dissapointed that we hadn’t left more time to spend there we would have liked to have done some of the tours but had booked a restaurant for food so had to leave.

Yes you can - we havn't done the 9/11 museum but did do Ellis Island, doing the tour and taking our time (although we didn't spend that long on Liberty Island) was a half day, so if you plan to eat lunch somewhere in that area you can do Ellis Island in the morning and 9/11 after lunch

Might see you there..we are also going in January😊
We have done both tours before and they take about half a day each so easily can be done...the last time I done the Ellis Island tour...I also done an extra tour which took you to the Other side which showed you the hospital ...it was so interesting... hard hats were needed because it is a bit run down...but all the old boilers etc are there ...even templates of the Statue of Liberty . Some of the views from the Windows to the Statue of Liberty were stunning...I found it one of the most interesting places I have ever been to. |

Personally I wouldn’t, the 9/11 memorial and museum took us quite a few hours to walk around and take in.
We did the Ellis island museum on a different day and again it was quite a long day, I just would find it too much to do in one day, but it is personal opinion. |

We did both on the same day in Sept and had plenty of time to see everything we wanted to see... we are not "spring chickens" but found them both really doable

We did them on separate days spending about 5 hours at each. We also did the Crown though. If you are pushed for time you could do both on the same day. The 9/11 museum can be quite draining so I wouldn’t do that first. It is open quite late. We did 9/11 and the one world tower on the same day. The OWO was our favourite of the observation towers. We went just before sunset so we could see both day light and night time.
