KLM schipol

July August from cardiff, option to do schippol.
KLM got a flight but only 56 mins connection.
I guess it’s too short.
Are bags checked through, do they hold the plane as it’s a cityhoppa flight,
Also flight is (2ad 1 teen 1 child at £3k.
Is this expensive.
So difficult next year.

If the flight arrived on time it would be OK however if there are any delays then I think you would be goosed.

The cityhoppa flights park at an area away from the terminal and a bus takes you to the terminal therefore even if you are first off the aircraft you have to wait on others until the bus departs

I doubt they will hold the flight for a delayed connecting flight for 4 people, especially as your luggage would not be on the aircraft as that would also be delayed and possibly miss the flight even if you did make it !

If it was me I would be looking at alternatives however Schiphol is not a bad airport to change flights however I would want a bit more time to allow for delays eg 2 hours

I'm happy with about an hour 10 at AMS but no less.

Is this for the first flight of the day or could you get an earlier one?

When you land at AMS you taxi for ages then you have to get a bus so a tight connection can be stressful.

Have you checked other nearby airports in case their times give more leeway... Bristol, Birmingham? Sorry my geography south of Nottingham is a bit hazy.

Or could you fly into a different airport. If via ATL you can fly to places like DAB PBI FLL etc.
We are doing MME AMS ATL JAX
at Easter and it was about £1900 for 4 - we booked before the TC debacle though.

As for your price it's dear for a normal year but for next year all bets are off as it seems just crazy.

Hopefully one airline will cave and cut prices making the others follow.

Hi, I use Schipol from Cardiff often and all the flights to and from Cardiff have short connection times. I believe the minimum connection time is 45minutes. Even allowing for the bus from the plane the time is just ok but you can't stop for coffee etc and have to go direct to the gate.
I assume the Florida flight is with Delta and you could look at the Schipol airport site where there is a video showing how to connect to flights to the USA.
I am ok with a short connection to the places in Europe i go to because there are alternative flights later. The airline is responsible for getting you to your destination if they sell you a ticket with a short connection time.
So you might look to see if there is a later flight if you miss the connection.

45 minutes is OK but tight, I did it last week for a trip to Atlanta. you have to be prepared to walk quickly to next gate (and make sure kids are able to keep up etc.) there are no security or passport checks to go through so its just time to walk from one gate to the next.
Baggage will be fine.

Well the doors opened at schipol at gate d44 with klm n we had a 30 second walk to gate d53 for delta, now we have a hour to spare, so easy

Everything I read says an hour minimum is required. I guess it depends on which gate you arrive and depart from.

We started at ncl klm to delta, on return it was klm to klm n had to ho from one end of terminal to other but still only took 15 mins,

Schiphol is probably my favourite airport for transferring - so easy.
