DD is 12 and gets £10 a week, £6 pocket money and £4 for some chores. We pay it via GoHenry account, which is good for her keeping track of her spending.

Dd11 gets £25 per month into her bank account. She has a card so can spend from that.

We paid our daughter £5 a week around that age. We did expect her to do jobs for that. Money was deducted for poor behaviour or not doing jobs ( empty dishwasher, helping with general cleaning of house and car etc) I personally think at 10 cash is best because it helps to teach about checking change and the value of money a bit more than direct bank payments.
She is now 16 and gets £10 a week plus her phone. She also cleans her brothers room..for a fee ! |

Mine are 10&11 and get £20 per month. £5ish goes on Roblux. They don’t have specific chores or anything but I expect them to help out when I ask (& they do).

My mum and dad give our daughter who is 9 £5 a week...just for being their granddaughter I think! We pay £10 month into a seperate account but it's just a savings pot not really pocket money as such.

DS had money put in his bank account each month - built up a good sum to give him on his 18th birthday 😊
Anything else at that age he had to earn by doing chores- £1 / chore. So the more chores he did = more money. Things like emptying dishwasher, taking recycling to the garage etc.

Youngest DD (10yrs) gets £10 -£15 per month. My older DD’s (12 & 14yrs) get £20 + extra for getting positive points at school- last month they both actually got about £30 each in the end plus I pay for mobile phone. DS (18yrs) also gets £30 + mobile phone. Although he’s got a p/t job, I’ve continued with pocket money as he’s trying to get as much money together ready for Uni, so only feels fair (and he’s quite good at saving).

We have never given any of our children pocket money 😬
They had/have hobbies, dance, boxing, rugby, swimming that we pay for. Any birthday and Christmas money they get goes into the bank and only used if there is something they really want. Anything they need, we buy. So if they need clothes or shoes we buy them but if they want a LP or x box game they pay for it. They are not big spenders to be honest and its rare they ask for anything so they save pretty well without pocket money 😊 At 16 they must get a part time job. I never had pocket money either, I had to get a Saturday job at 13. My husband worked for his dad on his milk round from 12 for cash. I don’t think children should get something for nothing or they don’t appreciate it. If they do chores and earn the pocket money then thats great. |
