I started watching this on my own while ironing but ds said he wanted to see it. We are in episode 6 having watched 1-2 a night . We are all enjoying it but glad he got some professionals in with the animal side of things. Love all the characters but really feel for Charlie! We couldn’t stop laughing at the one last night where he was in the sheep lambing barn and said about Bo-peeps torture chamber😂
Btw - how rich is the guy to be able to spend/make that many mistakes😳 and at least his girlfriend tells him straight!

It's like any business set up costs are huge as the years go on it hopefully becomes more profitable.
For example keep a few lambs to grow stock numbers. I'm sure amazon are paying him generously for his time. That's how he can afford it. Dont belive for one minute each of his bright ideas hadn't be carefully planned out... Including knowing and accepting losses. |

Best thing I have seen in a long time, and certainly made me realize what difficulties farmers have. Kaleb was so amusing and it was lovely to see JC fall in love with farming. I also hope they make another series. Thanks for bringing it to our attention OP.

Oh I know this, used to be a farm secretary pre children! And he is probably doing it through some company to claim tax relief etc!
Plus, people saying opened their eyes re farming, it will be a lot worse for your regular tenant or small landowner farmer who haven’t got the opportunity to be backed by a network tv channel so no worry how he will live when crops are ruined or lamb prices plummet!

Not a massive Clarkson fan so was dubious but absolutely loved it.

Well I failed in the 'by the end of the week' aim - all of the farming stuff while we have long days got in the way. We have, however, finished it tonight (it's raining!).
Still really impressed with how he's managed to make a very considerable nod to 'normal' farming - the farm assurance visits and the constant monitoring of everything we do which is indeed done (very badly) from the sky. A couple of years ago we 'lost' 4km of hedges which was later revealed to be a problem with shadows from the satellite system - although they gave me 5 days to go out and measure the hedges to check that they were there ... I love that so many of you are enjoying the program and perhaps learning a little more about where your food comes from and how it is grown. It makes such a difference from the relentless farmer-bashing that constantly comes from all angles. |

It might be me as my ear is not tuned to the accent, but is there anyone who caught what Gerald actually said during the show?

Not watched the whole lot yet. Only watched 3 episodes.
I have farmers in the family and always buy British! I know the standards they have to work to so you know its all good. Does highlight the issues of farming though. And hopefully those who moan about tractors on roads and farmers moaning about weather will take a look and realise how hard they work to keep us fed! |
