USA School Holidays

Hi everyone I’ve been off these forums for a year or so and I’ve lost touch a bit with a few things.

Can someone remind me of when the kids holidays are over there.

Now there’s some light at the end of the tunnel we’re starting to plan our return (we last went October 2019 which was fabulous). We’re looking at going again in a couple of years so not planning too much but we’ve got options to go again in October (probably mid October), and other options are May June (June not ideal as been before in June at it chucked it down majority of the holiday) or early July.

Want to avoid Aug for the heat Daughter will be 10 or 11 by then and we’ll most likely take her out of school for the holiday if it saves us a bit.

Cheers

School holidays in the US vary wildly from one state to another and even by counties within each state. In general, for the summer break, some schools finish at the end of May and resume early to mid August. Others go July-September. As for half term, a lot of schools don't have breaks, and others schedule their breaks around public holiday weekends. The so-called Spring break is taken any time between mid-February to after Easter.

Thanks. Tricky to judge, just trying to avoid busiest times if possible. My gut feeling is to go back in October again, was a nice balance at that time though we found the pool a bit too cold at the villa as a minor negative.

Some states have a weeks holiday early October, the year we went end September into October (returned around the 11th) our last week was pretty busy. July kids will be off school so busy. Haven’t been in may or June so can’t comment on then.

Some schools, including Florida, break towards the end of May to sometime in August however we have never found it to be much of a problem and love the weather in May.
