Vacuum cleaner

My Dyson vacuum is just not picking up anymore even though filters are cleaned so it's time I changed it

There are so many other makes I just don't know what to go for so looking for suggestions please, it's a mixture of hard flooring and carpets I need it for.

Any help appreciated

We have had around 5 Dysons. We now have a battery powered Shark. Mr Dyson is unlikely to see another penny from me for a vacuum cleaner.

The Shark is excellent.

Definitely a shark. I have the cordless anti hair wrap with 2 batteries. You probably don’t actually need the 2 batteries if you are good at remembering to charge it up. One battery lasts about a week for a 3 bed house hovered through every other day. It is good for hard floors and carpets. Not cheap but worth it. My last Dyson was rubbish and I wouldn’t buy another one.

I swapped from Dyson to Shark too. Wouldn’t go back. I also have hard floors downstairs and carpet upstairs.

I would look at the battery power you need first. I would only consider the cordless myself. I have the anti hair wrap which is useful if anyone in the family has longish hair. I bought the dual battery model because I know what I’m like at not charging things up ! If you are not desperate to buy just yet Shark seem to have good sales. I bought mine in January for £309 and I notice it is now £499 !

Dyson for us. My mam has a shark and the dust container is quite small. Sucks well though and has a anti tangle head, which was totally tangled on my mums when I last looked and had to detangle it

Our beige carpets hold on to black fluff from socks like Velcro and we found the Dyson is the only vacuum to suck it all up.

When my trusty old Dyson animal died I got a shark - mixture of hard flooring and carpet. Worst piece of overly heavy kit ever . Try as hard as I could it wouldn’t adjust between surfaces and was really hard when using gadgets - it was also too heavy for my housekeeper to use. Ditched it after 3 months and invested in a Miele - wow a dream machine and its like a silent floating cloud compared to my previous and does everything I want it to do effortlessly and efficiently

You can get Dysons reconditioned for reasonable money. Brings them back as good as new.

We have a Miele corded vacuum for a real clean and a Dyson V10 for every day use.
Both great. We looked at Shark, but it simply wasn't as good as the Dyson. However, the Shark can get under furniture better as the shaft can hinge.

No battery vacuum gets close to a 240V one.
