Park - start late or break in the middle?
Ok planning central here!
Those with kids (ours are 8/5/12) what works better if you want to stay late to watch show/fireworks - 1. Park morning - back to resort - park eve Or just 2. Resort morning - park aft & eve This will be a bit later in the trip so hopefully over the time difference! |

For that age, I would go in around lunch time and stay until late.

Ours were 9 & 6 last year - we tended to do opening then leave park around 2-3pm and return later. Often it would be different (I,e. MK morning then HS evening). This way we get the first hour or so which is pretty quiet.

Ive not been before but for our last week (bar Universal days) I have booked FPs starting around 3pm with evening shows planned at closing.
I figure that if we are exhausted we can lay in and have resort/pool time. If we fancy going out we can go to crazy golf, water park or Disney Springs so plenty to do. 3pm till 9pm close is still 6 hours in the park and thats enough for us.

Now that we’ve been a few times, we prefer to go late afternoon - about 4-5pm. Our kids are 12 & 10, which gives chance for lazy mornings or shopping.

We prefer a different park in the morning or a late start.
Most times we'll maybe start at one park from about 10-11ish then park hop at 4-5ish for the park with the night show. |

What time of year are you going? We are here now and it's hot, even after the summer we have had, so if August I would go early, break the go back. If another cooler time of year go early first week, kids will be to excitedly not to, then later second week

My kids were 16 & 12 last year when we were there and we did rope drop every morning (we are usually morning people anyway) and stayed until about midday then went back into a park around 5/6pm for the evening (staying onsite).
Same on waterpark days - for opening at 10am until about 2pm back to the room and back into a park for 5/6pm |

We are here now and did rope drop for first 3 days as we were awake anyway.
Yesterday was the first day we went mid afternoon - about 1.15 and stayed till 7pm, went for dinner and got back to villa at 9pm. This morning the kids didn't stir until about 10.30 (teenagers - 14 and 2x15). We are planning one more early morning - RD for FOP at some point and then we'll prob do later starts and relaxed mornings and stay later for fireworks etc. |

We start out the holiday by going in the mornings, then resort for the afternoon and go back to the park or do something else in the evening. As the holiday moves into the second week we need more lie-ins so go the parks for the afternoon/evening.
(Saying that, my eldest is currently 11 and is definitely showing signs of teenager inability to get out of bed in the morning, so next year could be interesting...)
