I would still bring an adapter. My Prius has a USB point between the seats that connects to the audio system but doesn't charge devices with any speed. The 12v outlet in the front with an adapter charges them much faster.

As long as you get something with a decent output, 2.4a, this is a good one.

We had a Chevy Impala last year that had a 2 pin plug socket in the centre console. My son was in heaven with being able to power his laptop on our road trip.

Thanks for all the responses everyone.

I decided to order the recommended 12v adapter (Thanks, poster!) as I could do with a better one for my car anyway and it's better safe than sorry...
