Mobile DVC and Coronavirus

Good article here, worth a read for all DVC owners not totally aware of the cancellation, banking and holding rules:

Thank you for posting that Yorkshire T, It's very useful to see it written down in one place.
I was only thinking about this last night. We have a reservation using all 2019 and also borrowed all 2020 points for October this year.

When BA cancelled our flight last month, we missed our first night at BLT.
When we spoke to the DVC rep at BLT the day we arrived, we got talking about our cancelled flight and stressful 36 hrs, we asked about the points from our first night and the fact we presumed that we had to forfeit them as per the rules.

She said to leave it with her and she would email member services, a few hours later, she contacted us to say they had given us our points back for the 1st night we missed.

Not exactly in relation to the coronavirus etc but as we have always found, member services were extremely helpful and understanding.

Problem is with Coronavirus it would be en mass- they couldn’t make exceptions for a whole 3-6 months of points I don’t think, otherwise the system would be totally clogged.

Just thinking about this today. I've rented out about 160 points for this August. My use year is September! I rented through David's and I think they recommend travel insurance?

All transactions are final so if the renter cancels tough, they’ll need to sort themselves out through their own insurance.

With 53 days to go I have to admit it has got me thinking

Unless were are told we can’t go we have every intention of still going

Obviously then the 226 points would be put in holding

Am I right in thinking we could bank them with RCI to use at possibly a later date or even this year in a RCI property in the UK... although I doubt the avaliability is that great

Just thinking of a plan B. Always like to have a plan B !

It would be better than losing the points

Could even look to using them sometime next year somewhere abroad
