When I was at school I worked on the pick'n'mix counter in Woolies and absolutely loved it... specially stocking up after a busy day

Yes mine was in the newsagents at the top of our road - Forbouys. I’d wanted to work there from a little girl - weighing out sweets and pressing the till

I worked in a manky shoe shop that had a £1.99 window! We sold espadrilles- if you had the get the corresponding shoe from the stockroom you would get bitten by the fleas that lived in there! £7 a day, 1988.

I worked as a kennel maid for a local dog breeder who also had boarding kennels! I worked from 8-5 sat and sun for £20!

Many moons ago I was a silver service waitress at Gretna Hall Hotel, started my training after school when I was 14,met some great people from all over the world.

I worked at what was John Barnes on Finchley Road from the age of 15 and 3 months until I was 16, then I moved to John Lewis on Oxford Street, on the fashion department. At the time John Lewis only stayed open until 1pm, but the weekend that decimalisation in 1971 we worked all over the weekend to change the price tags.
 Our children have worked at W H Smiths when they were 16, which is where I work now.  Melvin helped with a milk round. Lesley and Melvin

When I was 13/14 I worked in a Mace food shop (8 hours on a Saturday and 8 hours on a Sunday).
