Observing someone steal in a supermarket
If you were shopping in a supermarket and you observed someone steal a tin of red salmon would you say anything to them or the stores staff/security.
Note: You observed the person put the tin of salmon in their pocket (I bought a very small tin of red salmon last week and it was £3.50). |

Not in a supermarket no. Possibly addicts and could turn violent.
I saw a women steal a necklace in a charity shop a few years back. I was just walking out before her. I was so incensed I blocked the exit and called the staff who took it back off her !

No i wouldn't because I've seen what happened to a friend of mine who reported a thief when she worked in Asda some year's ago.
He broke her nose and it was awful 😢 It's not worth it peeps! |

I'd WANT to say something, absolutely I would - but as others have said, a situation may turn violent. (Not that that is any excuse for anyone to get away with committing a crime. )

When my son worked at Morrison’s during his uni years , he was on self serve and observed someone wheel a trolley of booze through without paying for it.
Morals kicked in and he chased them out the store, they threw the trolley and continued to run off. He gave up chase thankfully. He got no thanks from the managers etc (he was a little disappointed at that) told him not to do the right thing again as he could have ended up attacked.

You’re so mean, I fancied a salmon sandwich but only had £2 on me!
I wouldn’t say anything because maybe that person has fallen on hard times, maybe they were desperate and that tin of salmon will make their life a bit better!

I read that our local M and S food store doesn't bother with security guards now, so you'd look a bit of a narna wouldn't you calling them out?
Has anyone seen the whistling shoplifters? That does get the staff in Tesco moving! |

Was it an old person ? Maybe they wanted a thrill - seeing as they can’t wear jeans, ponytails or kiss and hug in public - I bet they wanted you to chase them down MH after giving them such a hard time lately 😉😄
For a tin of salmon, not worth the effort. Edited at 03:36 PM. |

Even an old person would run a mile if they saw MH and his hairy pot belly stuffing profiteroles into his fat gob 😂
