Nursery under neglect investigation :-(

Evening everyone,

Sorry to bring doom and gloom but just wanted some advice or just anyone to talk to!

Our sons old nursery has been put under police investigation on grounds of neglect, we pulled him out just under 2 years ago because we suspected it was bad and had suspicions as to our own sons care but thought we were being a bit protective as everyone else seemed to keeep their children there

I now feel awful as he was there from being 5 months - 18 months, I just want to know exactly what they are investigating but instead to just left feeling guilty and worried sick!

I read about this on the BBC news app.

I felt sick when I read it. You did right by following your insincts and removing your son as soon as you could so you have nothing to feel guilty about.

The article I read said families of children where there was a direct concern were been contacted, I do hope thats not you (I wished it wasn't anybody).

Hugs. xx

I think you would have been contacted if there had been a problem with your son, so don't worry. This sort of investigation seems to be more common lately. There is no suggestion of any sexual abuse, thankfully.

We paid them a lot of money to look after our child and they failed, spoken to the family welfare officer this evening and they are being brilliant but said at the moment they just need to collect as many statements as they can then investigate how far it goes back.
Just wish my little one could tell me!

if you had concerns did you report them to ofsted? i work in a nursery and we have mant parents coming to us from other nurseries but they never compiain to ofsted about them. if more people did things like this would get caught sooner. i always tell people to call ofsted if you have any concerns about a childcare provision. just hope everythings ok for your child x

Yes we reported it as soon as we pulled him out but seems it got really bad in June this year which has led to the investigation.
I know my ds was given very substandard care but cant help but worry something else is going on for such a big investigation to take place

so glad you reported them! im sure it will be fully investigated. its so frustrating things like this really knocks 'outstanding' nurseries like the one i work in with such bad press slating nurseries.

We have since used a brilliant nursery and now know better but I think much more should be done to regulate nurseries... the one under investigation was brilliant the week they knew ofstead were coming!

I find when we are inspected (Scotland) their main concerns are always paperwork when I think they should be looking at the care and attention that the children get.
