Newport Bay refurb
Was going to book Sequoia however all standard rooms now gone and only more expensive gardens left.
NBC next best option however looks like under refurb atm and we are going end of April Anyone been recently is the refurb causing any issues? Just seen New York Hotel same price as SL Garden might be tempted to go NYH

Hi, we're going in March and I've phoned several times to ask about the refurbishment, when I booked I only was told about the pool being closed. Anyway they've told me that it's the whole west side, so the restaurants and pool. The restaurants have been moved into the convention centre which is within the hotel. Buffet service only. I am disappointed and wouldn't have booked if I'd known but they have told me that it won't affect anything and they will do everything they can to make it special for us. The only plus I can think of is that I don't think it will be that busy which might work in our favour!

We just got back from Sequoia but ate in Newport buffet one night while there as it's always been one of my favourite buffets, however it wasn't the same this time, we ate at 8 & there were probably 10 tables occupied so no atmosphere whatsoever and the food was very limited compared to previous times.
As we left there were only a few more diners than when we arrived, the whole place seemed deserted and eerily quiet. It seemed that both wings were closed & the few residents were housed in the main body of the hotel. Personally I would avoid it until the refurb is complete as it just doesn't feel very 'Disney' at the moment |

There is usually a nominated pool you can use if the one in your hotel is closed - they will tell you at reception if you ask. It's not the most convenient thing to do though as you have to trek back to your own hotel afterwards!
