Where can you activate your tickets?

We have a split stay, with our first 2 nights at POR before our ticket and DDP package starts at BC for 7 nights. The first day our tickets can be used we are booked for early morning magic at MK.
Do we need to activate our tickets ( on our magic bands) at the kiosks at the TTC or can we just do this at the entrance? We were planning on getting a Minnie van for this which I believe can drop you straight at the entrance rather than having to use the monorail or ferry.

You just scan you magic bands at the park entrance on the first day you want to use them.

"Activation" is just another term for "first use". You "activate" the ticket when you first use it to enter a park. You don't have to do anything else.

BTW, if you are staying onsite then the Disney buses from your resort will take you directly to the entrance of Magic Kingdom. They don't go to the TTC. So if you wanted to save yourself some money you could use the Disney buses from BC instead of getting a Minnie Van.
