DDP question

Sorry for the stupid question, but we've never had DDP before and am trying to get to grips with it.

Looking at the menu for The Boathouse, I know DDP covers an entree and a dessert. Taking the Filet Mignon for an example, would it be literally a steak on a plate and I'd have to order fries separately and pay for them OOP?

Unfortunately yes! Not good value IMHO for 2 x Ts credits! Food gets good reviews but the lack of any sides, without paying for them, gets mentioned on every one.

D'oh. I had a feeling this was the case. I might drop this ADR and save the credits then.

Thanks for the advice.

Not good value at all. If I go to Boathouse I'd buy one of their excellent more reasonably priced items like the Club sandwich. Another reason why unless it's free, the DDP is hardly ever worth paying for.

Yeah. We got free DDP, but for this ADR it could work out being expensive with sides, tip, drinks etc

Not all 2ts restaurants charge extra for sides though so you could possibly still eat at a 2ts place with sides included. The entree description of each menu explains what is included.

However, we have booked STK for our 2ts meal this year. This also charges for sides separately so we will have to pay for these. But the food looked so good here and we like the look of the restaurant so we decided to book it anyway. There are only 2 of us dining and we will share 1 side dish as that will be enough for us so it won't be too expensive. I wouldn't decide where to eat purely on value of dining plan, I like to choose it based on personal choices of our family and don't worry about what is best value.

TBH, we cancelled Cali Grill and booked STK. When I heard STK is quite loud, I cancelled that and booked Boathouse. Since then we've changed our minds again and rebooked Cali Grill on a MNSSHP night to see the fireworks, so Boathouse is just a 'nice to have' rather than a must do. I'll give it some thought. Just surprised that a 2TS restaurant would have entrees that are basically half a meal.

I do agree with you, one side should be included in a meal, especially at the prices they charge! Imagine paying for the whole meal oop 😀.

Not a stupid question. I’ve used DDP many times but not for 8 years. This is a change I knew nothing about, so thanks for raising the topic, I’ll double check my must do 2 credits now

You do get a side with the steak!

It's just not mentioned on the menu description.

Roasted new potatoes. Not a huge portion but more than enough for me when you consider you get a basket of amazing bread rolls & dessert too.

Yum!
