July/August car hire price thread 2016

I was just wondering what prices everyone has paid for their car hire this year. Last year we brought flights and car hire package together and I can't believe how high the prices are this year. We actually need to book two cars this year, as my DD is now 25 and wants her own car, so I would really like to pay deposit only.

Would anyone care to share:
Car hire co. and location
Make and model
Duration and price
Extras e.g. Free additional driver, tank of fuel etc.
Date of booking

I thought we could also use this thread to post if anyone sees any great offers (fingers crossed). Thanks. Susan

HAPPY PLANNING

Great idea as we are looking for a dodge caravan 7seater for Aug for 20 nights from Tampa. Cheapest I found worked out £480 on the Alamo.com website . Petrol included but haven't checked what else is yet. Was quite a lot cheaper than Alamo uk which was about £770 I think!

I have booked the following...
full size car (dodge charger or similar)
16 days
2 drivers
£332
That was with Discount Florida Car Hire and it was the cheapest I could see
*Just wanted to add that Andy was so easy to work with, he phoned me up and took the deposit and I could pay any amount I wanted

There are some fantastic prices on the VA car rental website. We're wanting to hire an Intermediate SUV or a Standard SUV. Prices are showing cheaper than VH website plus with VA you get a free additional driver too. The Intermediate is showing as £339 and the Standard is £366.

Think I may book the Standard SUV at £366 in the morning.

We need a full size SUV for 17 nights from Tampa on 18 August. It's a whopping £1,000 at the moment. Last year the prices were similarly high but then we managed to get it for around £550 for 21 nights through ebookers nearer the time, i think we booked around June time. Hopefully prices will drop.

Just check its Insured for that price! Most of the non UK sites don't include the Insurance as standard and you have to add it on at additional cost.

I'm amazed that VA and VH have different prices. I am on there all the time and haven't seen a difference for a long while. Used to be mind!

Bear in mind the 'booking' with VA is actually fulfilled by VH anyhow.

Both VA and VH are offering 1 extra driver free albeit its not advertised on the VA website until you click on the car you want, thats when you note the additional free driver.

With VA you get your documents immediately. I booked a 28 day hire yesterday and had all my docs through in 30 mins.

Thanks Mr Tom Morrow, I'm going to book it this morning. Worried price may go up otherwise.
