How did your parents meet

My dad was in my grandma's sweetshop and saw my mum at the bus stop across the road. He told us he thought she was the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen . He ran across the road, luckily no bus in sight, and asked her out. They were courting when war was declared, got married and 3 weeks later he went overseas. She never saw him for 5 years but I have wonderful letters that they wrote to each other. He won a medal and after the war they went to the palace to get it, with dad's mum . I've got the invitation plus some local newspaper cuttings about him. They were married for 48 years until he passed away. Mum loved him till the day she died 24 years later. They were wonderful role models for me and my sister, we both wanted a marriage like they had, and we were both lucky enough to get it.

My mom's story was that she was up on a mezzanine in the factory with some other girls she worked with when my dad walked in below with the new intake and she said to her friends "He'll do I like him"

She winked and smiled at him until he offered to walk her home one day.

She was 16 he was 14 the year was 1940. They married when she was 21 and were married 64 years until he died.
