Cancelling a restaurant booking
Can I cancel a restaurant booking without any charge if needs be?
I want to book Inventions as part of our trip for my husband’s birthday but there’s a chance other family members might join us on the only day they’ve got availability at a time that works for us. I know their budget wouldn’t stretch to it & not could we fund them. It might be the end of the month before they know what they’re doing. So, am I ok to book for us 4 -going if it’s just us and cancelling ASAP if others join us? We’re staying offsite if that makes a difference?! Thanks |

If you're just making a reservation and not pre-paying for it through your booking then you can cancel and amend as required as often as you want without any penalty.

There are two ways to book inventions, one is to ring up and add it to your booking - this requires payment and would incur a cost if cancelled. The second is to book via reservations or the website, this would not incur a cost if cancelled. The main difference (from what I could see) is that option one gives you more time slots available than option two (at least it did when I was booking).

Ahh fab thanks both!
I might try calling first to see if there are earlier slots after all for hubby’s actually birthday when it would definitely just be us. It’s lack of availability that led to the date with a potential clash! If there’s still nothing, I’ll book the slot I’ve seen online! |

When we were going there was no availability before 9pm via online booking links, i rang up and booked a 1.30 slot in the afternoon, there were also earlu evening slots too. This was the sales line though and would have required prepayment (we had half board vouchers which were used in lieu at the booking stage)

Just to say, thank you for the tips about ringing up - we managed to get a 1pm table on my husband’s birthday 😀
We didn’t need to pay a deposit and we don’t need to worry about having to cancel if my dad arrives! 👌 |
