I think that if you are already thinking about converting TS to snacks then are you sure it's worth the upgrade? That's $15 worth of snacks for $45 , bear in mind that whilst your upgrade is £520 you are also "dropping" an additional £15/QS credit, your break even for the upgrade is approx 15 TS credits so look at where you would/will eat & add it up.

We would be planning a good few TS meals like character breakfasts and lunches so I was just thinking that mathematically it would make more sense to upgrade if those meals came to more than £520 if we were paying OOP. Any other TS meals over and above which we do would then make it even better value for us. I completely understand that we would not get the best “value for money” if we were to use some of the TS credits for anything other than TS but at the same time we could still be saving money rather than paying OOP for the TS meals that we do. We can use the TS credits against a QS meal can’t we or is it just against snacks? If the former then we’re not really dropping a QS meal are we? At least that’s my thinking unless I’ve gotten this totally wrong?! 😂

The other thing to bear in mind, is it’s sometimes cheaper to upgrade the hotel to old key west or Saratoga where the ddp is free, than paying the upgrade price on a moderate. It was for us this Summer!

Maybe it's me that is looking at it wrong but in my mind 15 is the "break even" for the upgrade money wise but every time you end up exchanging that TS for something that isn't a TS, then you "de-value" your upgrade:
3 x snacks £12 = 1 x QS £14 = 1 x TS £35 Plus the 2 y/o doesn't get a dining plan, the 5 y/o would get adult credits on QS plan but kids credits on TS plan so really that £520 is mainly for the adults IYKWIM. By the way I'm not saying that it isn't worth it but for us we would near enough be using every TS credit as a TS credit SD
