BA Boomerang, Bratwurst and Buddha - Berlin to Hong Kong

BACKGROUND

So, here we go again on another whacky trip with the Mad Mods so sit back, buckle up and enjoy the ride!

So, what’s going on this time?

I thought that after spending years of going West we ought to head East for a change, but where exactly? I decided to leave that choice to Alison as she really wanted to continue on our quest to visit all the states (or see more of Canada).

Alison here:
I knew that Shaun would have us backpacking round India if I wasn't careful, so I decided on a city that would have some nice hotels, that BA flew to - oh and of course there's a Disney park there too!

Honk Kong it would be!

BOOMERANG (aka hidden city or ex-EU)

Luckily there was a good offer on flying to Hong Kong - but it was from Germany! Not to worry, we'd always wanted to go to Berlin (see more of that below) so decided to go there for a few days first. The downside is that we'll need to fly back from Hong Kong to London, then onto Berlin, then back to London.

BERLIN

Usually we fly via Dublin - so this would be a bit different. My father (who died many years ago) was stationed there during his national service and I always wanted to go and recreate the photos I have of him.

Alison: My grandfather was shot down over Berlin during the second world war and is buried there. Hopefully we will get the chance to go to the war cemetery there and visit his grave.

We are also going to take in normal sites like checkpoint Charlie, Brandenburg gate etc

HONG KONG

Here we will pick up all the usual tourist sites especially Disney! We also want to do a day trip to Macau.

DATES- Berlin:14 - 16 Sept, HK: 17 - 24 Sept

Flights: BA Club world

Berlin hotel: The Indigo

HK Hotel: The Mira

That's about it for now!

Berlin is such a fab city - I was lucky to go before the Wall came down as well as after!

HK is another wonderful destination!
