Is club level worth it at AKL with dining plan?
Wondered what peoples thoughts are about whether it’s worth upgrading to club level at AKL with dining plan (mostly to get free alcohol !)

I think if you have already paid for a savannah view room then yes I would, but the price difference from standard view to club if you already have free DDP is probably not justified. Unless you want to treat yourself and money is no object! 😁😉

You get free alcoholic drinks with the dining plan anyway - one with each meal. So, I guess it depends how much you want to drink and if you'll be at the hotel often enough to make use of the service and alcoholic drinks.

We have done this - upgrading from a Savannah room. The total cost was under $100 for all 4 of us so it seems worth it for us.
I like the fact there will be bits for the kids to nibble on on the way in / out in the mornings and we may have a couple of resort days here as well so will be well used we hope. We have DDP as well, however will see how it goes. We will no doubt be coming back significantly heavier lol. We don't tend to drink a lot on holiday so not really getting our moneys worth in that respect, however think the experience will still be worth it on a "once in a lifetime" type holiday (I say that now but can already see us going back lol). We have done this for the last 5 nights of our holiday and are at BC for the first 9 nights not club level. Either way the hotel looks stunning and I am sure you will have a fantastic time whatever you decide to do! |

I thinks so as club level isn’t a meal replacement plan. It’s nice to be able to get breakfast there and drinks and snacks during the day if you happen to be back at the hotel. The offerings in the evening are good but they aren’t designed to replace meals

Personally I wouldn't, as on the few times we stayed Club at AKL DVC we never really spent that much time in the lounge and we didn't have the Dining Plan. The most time we spent was for breakfast before hitting the parks and a few drinks when we got back.

I think if the cost isn’t huge it would be good to have breakfast in the lounge and finish the day there with drinks and desserts.
We had a free upgrade a few years ago to Boardwalk Club and we were on Deluxe Dining Plan. Already having lots of meals planned we rarely used the lounge for anything other than drinks but it would have worked very well with the standard dining plan.

We did it when we went in 2017, would definitly recommend. Its handy for snacks, drinks, breakfast and also just having a different lounge area to sit in. You could also get alcohol from there to take back to your room and drink on the balcony, baileys before bed haha

Apart from GF Main building, I think its the best Club at WDW. As others have said, the upgrade is hardly noticeable from a Savanna room cost wise, and you get a room close to the lobby end of the resort when booking Club, not 5 miles out on the end somewhere. I can highly recommend it. The food in Club isn't meant to be meal substitutes (although breakfast offerings were sufficient for us in the morning and it is very relaxing up there in the evening having drinks and desserts later on- so you will still use your DDP.

We've done this for our holiday next year. I'd already booked a savannah view, so the difference was about £29 per night for the room. A no-brainer really even though we have the free DDP. We will have our breakfast there, (apart from Tusker House morning!), and then use it in the day if we're having a resort based day, or for pre-dinner drinks in the evening. There's me, DH and DS who will be 16 so I think we'll get our money's worth.
I've also booked club lever at HRH at Universal for our 1st 3 nights - this was only £10 a night difference - so definitely a no-brainer!
