Thios morning, Josh not feeing too good, upset tummy, he was on coach to do a day trip to Liverpool, but didnt feel well so came off, a lecturer spoke with him on the way back to his flat, told him it will setle down and heshould give it time. I have DH who wants him home, he says he can see hes suffering. DS says hes not ready to throw in the towel yet. Really wish he had started his tabs when the GP gave them to him, Oh boy I am trying so hard to not collaspe in a sobbing heap! Off to work soon where I am kept busy with poor people losing their sight which must be devastating for them. Hope eveyone else is having positive news xx

It’s so hard to just be there as a sounding board and not immediately just want to fix everything isn’t it? Has josh started taking his medication regularly now? If he has and he wants to stay and give it all more of a chance then I say good on him. It’s such early days, he could still turn it all around and start feeling more comfortable and settled.

Big hugs Shirley, it’s so upsetting for you as you must feel as if you just want to bring him back home 😢 Your son seems to be trying hard though and doesn’t want to give up on it yet so well done to him.

Is there any mentor system in his uni? Or support available for students struggling? I know Georgia has received emails asking if she wants an older student as a mentor/buddy to help her over the initial stages. She has declined as she feels she will be able to cope, but it’s good to know that help is available if she needs it.

((Hugs)) Shirley. Josh sounds like he is determined to give it a good go! It is very brave of him and hopefully in a few days he will feel a bit more settled.

Sending Hugs, think Josh is doing the right thing trying to find his feet. Uni is not for everyone, my son struggled to settle but I think it was more that he struggled academically. He tried but gave up and came home at Christmas in his 1st year. He works in retail now and is happy, that is all we can ask for our children.

This is so true, their mental health is the most important thing and if they aren’t happy or uni isn’t for them, then there are many other options out there.

Josh is very brave to keep trying for now but if it doesn’t work, then he has done his best and he can find something that works better for him. Good luck to him and you, I’m sure he will be fine with such great family support xx

Oh Shirley sending you a big hug, it’s so hard when they are having a tough time, all your instincts want to do is to go and get them and bring them home! Well done to Josh though for persevering, I’m really hoping it gets easier for him.

Ben seems to be okay and slowly settling in, he is off to an outdoor screening of Black Panther tonight with some others from his flat. Yesterday he went into Canterbury and looked around. I feel much better that I know he is okay and off doing things.

I’ve not posted much but have been reading through and really appreciate everyone posting their experiences. It helps to know I’m not alone in how I’m feeling.

I had no idea the worry would be so emotionally draining, DH and I are constantly asking each other how we think DD is getting on and trying not to contact her every 5 minutes to check she’s ok.
