Non un topo in vista! Renamed - The Voyage of the Damned

Having done the Route 1 road trip from San Diego to San Francisco in February (via a stay at Disneyland) we decided our next break should be in Europe. There's so much this side of the world that we haven't yet seen. WDW's Magic Kingdom is a total building site at the moment and with no new attractions due for at least another year we thought we'd give it a miss.
We've quite often been tempted to visit the Christmas markets of Germany etc but also wanted something where we would see some real scenery. The OH came up with this one - Lake Como, Milan and Christmas markets. To get there we'll be using a luxury coach which only takes 20 people. There is a lounge area at the rear of the vehicle so we will be able to move around. We get picked up locally then travel onward to northern France for an overnight stay.
We'll continue south through France and Italy to Lake Como for a four-night stay. There will be opportunity to cruise the lake and hopefully the surrounding mountains will be covered with snow. We'll go sight seeing in Milan and visit the Duomo (cathedral) and hopefully get to see The Last Supper mural by da Vinci. Loads of shopping opportunities in the amazing arcades that they have there and also a chance to visit the Christmas market at Sant’ Ambrogio.
There's also another day of Christmas markets.
It will be nice to let somebody else do the driving and as the title says : Not a mouse in sight!

Sounds wonderful. Outside of US, Italy is our next favourite country. We haven't visited Lake Como but we absolutely loved Lake Garda. I think this sounds like a really great trip and something totally different to Florida/WDW. We are starting to think about next year and whether we want to return to WDW or not - your comment about MK being a building site has got me thinking.

The coach sounds great - having space to move around. You never know, you might bump into George Clooney

So tomorrow is day 0. All packed and ready to go. We get picked up at 8:30 in Harrow town centre and taken to South Mimms services on the M25 for our cfeeder coach to Dover. I've no idea what time we sail but we should be in Reims, France by night time for an overnight stay. Will do the trippie in stages so bear with us.
