A festive near miss….

We have a chest freezer in our garage which is pretty full mostly with food I’ve cooked and frozen for the Christmas period. There is also a ton of M&S party food and a load of meat.

Went out to the garage this morning to get a recycling bag and the freezer was open. It has been open for 14 hours, since the husband (who is now in disgrace) went to get ice yesterday evening.

We’ve checked thoroughly and nothing has defrosted. Even the ice cream that was near the top. I can only assume that the sheer quantity of frozen food helped, plus the freezer is made of stern stuff and was desperately trying to maintain the temperature.

My husband is a lucky lucky man 😂

Unless it bounced back because it's so full how the hell can you not shut a freezer door?

I may have said something similar. He thinks he got distracted by putting out the recycling…

Like open wide or just slightly adjar? I’ve managed to do the latter by leaving the tray inside not sitting correctly and so the lid of the freezer wasn’t quite closed because the tray was in the way x

Sort of a 45 degree angle, so not open to its fullest extent but a million miles away from closed.

Mitigating factors: both the freezer light and the garage light are broken so there wouldn’t have been a glow to indicate it wasn’t closed….

My fridge freezer squeals when it's left ope but my second freezer has been opening it's own door. It's on my list to sort out.
