BA 2039 delayed tomorrow

Good evening as posted in the other forum our BA flights is currently showed as delayed. Looks like it is going to be somewhere between 2-3 hours. It is a knock on delay as the plane was delayed leaving today for Kingston. Can anyone confirm for me is it 3 hours we need to be delayed before we are entitled to compensation? Also how can I tell if the delay is 'BA's' fault or weather related?

Just trying to be prepared but in all honesty I just hope we take off after BA's record or cancellations.

You need to arrive 4 hours late on a long haul. Doesn’t look to be that late atm.

Thank you! It also looks like they have pulled the departure time back a bit so I'm hoping the delay won't be as bad as we first feared. Fingers crossed I just want it to actually get us there!

We’ve had it a few times before where we were notified of a delay but they pulled it back and went on time. 🤞you’re not too late.

It is the arrival time at your destination not departure time that is relevant for compensation. If you are delayed try Flyertalk to ask why.

For long haul, 3 hours gets you €300, 4 hours is €600.

It’s based on your original arrival time and actual official arrival time, which is when the door is opened.

Oh, I’d forgotten about the 50% reduction on 3-4 hours.

Think we’ve had comp 4 times now but it’s always been more than 4 hours. We’ve had a 5,9 and 2x 24 hours. That’s in the last 8 years so I guess not too bad as we usually have 4 trips a year.

If you have travel insurance through the Post Office they'll pay out either £50 per person or a lounge pass after an hour of delay over and above EU261, just thought I'd mention for anybody in the process of obtaining or renewing

Thank you everyone for this really helpful Iv read up on it numerous times but my brain goes to mush when I'm nervous and starting to panic so it's great to get a bit of reassurance. Delay currently 1 hour 40 minutes so better then we first thought. The plane looks like its on route back to Gatwick from Kingston. Fingers crossed they make up some time in the air and it pulls back a little more.

Looking at flightradar24 and BA2039 is back on time to depart at 14:30 today now. They changed the aircraft, the incoming plane that you will fly on now arrives at gatwick at around 9.40am.

Fingers crossed for you... looking good!
