I’m sorry you’ve had to cancel your plans for this year. What did you have planned?

It’s my first trip too. Are your researching as much as me? Do you have loads of questions about everything like I do?!

Oh yes. I have "planned" a trip several times over. Life has not been kind the last few years. I've been a member here since 2016 and changed plans a millions times!

Our original plans were 3 weeks split between disney and universal. But due to husband's health we wont be able to do lots of long days, and we now having a dog so 3 weeks is a bit too long for the first time leaving him.

So now we are planning 8 nights onsite disney (hotel yet to be decided) and 7 nights some sort of condo / apartment. Liking the look of grande villa apartments or hilton suites.

However if by some miracle disney onsite comes with full DDP for 2024 that's all out the window haha.

We had ours cancelled twice during Covid, and ive had to push our April 2023 trip back to August 2024 today (long story), so up to now just the Disney part booked with a small deposit. Using miles for Virgin flights and waiting to see what the deal is in April and will take it from there, as they said i can add it on. We usually book a night at Universal mid holiday so we will probably do that again.

First will be disney stay for whatever off they release in April.

Then I think we have settled of Drurys Plaza for our "offsite" stay rather than grande villa apartments. Because of the free breakfast, evening snacks and drinks. They are currently booking 12 months out.

Then flights.

Me too. I am impatiently waiting for April...17th is it? For the disney deals to come out. That will decide which hotel I book.

Then I'll be booking flights from September.

I'll look at other tickets on black Friday cos sometimes you get some deals. Such as gatorland thrown in.

Ooh estas need doing. Need new passports for the kids which I could do now actually as we've decided we aren't going abroad this summer.

Think that's about it. We'll do uber/taxi from airport as it was so easy last time. And ubers throughout.

Insurance is ongoing with nationwide.

What about you?

Well we are in France end of August and will need new passports as they run out in July 24. So as soon as we get back need to renew all 3 and get 3x estas. Eeek talk about a pain!

I recently read bambikates trippie from last year. They flew into tampa and got a uber down to Orlando. Flights were a lot cheaper, uber was just over $100. So we are thinking of doing that if it works out significantly cheaper. Plus tampa immigration is meant to be way cheaper.

I think April 17th is an estimated date right now. Fingers crossed its not too late on.

Drury looks great from what I’ve seen. I’m so torn between on/off site. I’m considering a split stay so I don’t have to make a decision….! Haha

Currently, I’m waiting for the Disney offer to see what it is. Although I’m worried that then I’ll be tied into days and it might not coincide with the cheapest day to fly.

We stayed offsite on our first visit. The villa was really great but we found we wasted alot of time wasted travelling too and from Disney (20 mins away). We decided for on site this time for part this reason and part because we dont want to drive. Split stay is probably a good balance as for us the downside of being on site is the expensive of the food and lack of variety/quality. We are happy to deal with it though as all we want to do is Disney. X
