Rib for me too. I got one from my local Butcher and it's in my freezer just now.

I’d recommend a local butcher who knows the provenance of his stock. I wouldn’t use a supermarket for a big beef joint.

Echo the comments for a rib. Definitely from a local butcher, they'll be able to tell you the best size, etc.

We always have 2 or 3 ribs of beef. Or a boned & rolled joint of sirloin.
Beef can be tricky to cook if you're not used to it though, so just remember that it will carry on cooking while it's resting. I buy from a local butcher, or Morrisons. Some people get sniffy about supermarket meat, but we have used Morrisons butchers a lot over the years and honestly can't fault them. (ETA, I don't do my normal shopping in Morrisons at all, but go there specifically for meat... ) |

I was in the meat industry for years and would definitely second Morrisons, the Morrisons butchers usually know their stuff or they do in our two.
I used to shop local but my butchers just got so greedy with prices. |

If you have a Costco card their meat is excellent, as for Christmas joint my mum always had a sirloin joint.
