Making trifle

I have the task of making trifle, not very exciting, but thought to jazz it up a bit to use a bit of Bucks Fizz, I have a clementine and cranberry Bucks Fizz, would the orange etc likely stop jelly from setting?

I never use jelly in a trifle. However, I suspect that the alcohol might make the jelly difficult to set.

The alcohol in the bucks fizz, if mixed with Jelly, won't let it set, however traditional trifle doesn't have jelly in it. Each to their own, though.
If you are using jelly put the bucks fizz into the sponges and make the jelly as usual.

Oh, I’m in the jelly camp for trifle too. Trying to recreate my gran’s sherry trifle for my. Dad. She didn’t use jelly either & I used to hate it without it.

I was going to put sherry on the sponge then use quick set jelly. Will the jelly still set or am I spoiling a potentially good trifle by adding jelly. Might need to just do a single trifle for me lol

Cannot imagine trifle without jelly 😱🎅🏻
Making one later (jelly, sponge fingers, custard, cream) 👌

I don't use sponge fingers, instead I use a raspberry or strawberry sponge roll cut into slices, if using alcohol dredge it over the sponge , add the fruit of choice and then top with the jelly, leave to set in the fridge, then add custard that has already cooled and set and then add cream .

The jelly should set fine if you dredge the sherry over the sponge

Mum used to put sherry in the sponges and let it soak in before adding the jelly. She also made the jelly slightly ‘stronger’ by adding a few drops less water, so it would set more quickly.
