Christmas Eve - how are we doing?

My little win for the day is not being horribly overhung after hosting friends for an evening of merriment - whoop!
I’ve just finished my prep. Puddings made, Gammon in the oven, pulled pork in the slow cooker, chorizo and chestnut soup on the hob for lunch.
Going to sit and watch muppets Christmas Carol this afternoon and I may even have a little snooze.

I’m not a terribly prolific dibber but I love this section of the board. Lovely to find people who enjoy Christmas planning as much as me.

I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas x

I love this section too!

I’ve just finished making the stuffing while little one is napping! We’ve had a busy morning so far, I made the pavlova base first thing which has cracked really badly as our oven is rubbish 🙈 but I’ll cover it with cream and fruit tomorrow anyway and hopefully it won’t be as noticeable.

We opened our Christmas Eve box after breakfast so have painted some little Christmas ornaments and then made and decorated biscuits for Santa later!

I made a cheese and tomato puff pastry Christmas tree for lunch which we had as a little indoor picnic while watching Olaf’s frozen adventure which we have decided to make a new tradition as our daughter loved it!

Once she wakes we’ll be off to a nativity service and then home to sprinkle the reindeer food outside before coming in to do dinner for little one. Then into our family Christmas pjs ready to watch the snowman and then the snowman and the snowdog!

We’ll read Twas the night before Christmas to our daughter before she goes to bed and then put all the presents under the tree before we have our dinner, will be a selection of party food and snacks while we watch Home Alone 2 which is our Christmas Eve tradition!

When that finishes I’ll prep the veg and Turkey and possibly set the table ready for tomorrow. I think I’ll make my backup Christmas dessert too in case the pavlova tastes as bad as it looks hehe. It’s lemon posset so super simple and won’t take long at all! Then to bed!

We are really organised, just waiting around now for our older two to finish work later. I have really bad indigestion, I think its GERD, we are supposed to be eating out but now considering ordering a pizzas instead so I don’t need to eat 😬
I have just got one massive present to wrap which can only be wrapped once in place 🤣

This morning made cranberry sauce, mince pies, sausage rolls and pigs in blankets. Waiting for ds and family to arrive later this afternoon and then this evening with the aid of a glass of wine will prep the rest of the meal.

We’ve had a Maccy D’s breakfast (only just made it to the drive thru at 10.55,) and then prepped all the veg and meat for tomorrow. Had an afternoon nap, and just enjoyed a mince pie with a brew.

Main dining room table is set . Getting on with the prep atm with a Christmas film on in the kitchen. Spuds and carrots done. Cauliflower/broccoli cheese done. Jelly for trifle setting . Carving knives sharpened, oven trays at the right height in the oven. On with the stuffing now . Will set table in the kitchen as we will have breakfast in the morning. Out with the family for a meal later tonight as oldest daughter is going to her in-laws tomorrow .

A quiet one in our house, I’ve had a chest infection so had to rest, but managed a bit of laundry and made up the spare room for my daughter and her fiancé who will be here Boxing Day.
Just the 2 of us from now until Boxing Day, but then the 5 kids will descend on us and festive fun will begin, hopefully I’ll be feeling much better by then.
Watching the gavin and Stacy Christmas it’s brilliant… if old… 😉

Hope you all have a wonderful time
