Stumbled across something when looking to make a booking for next year, using my work laptop which connects to a French VPN. On the final page, the "Country of residence" defaulted to France and came up with the below before the 25% discount being applied:

When I then switched this to UK, the price jumped up massively.

Wonder why this would be? Feel it would be way too risky to select the France option! Assume there is something in T&C that Driver's Licence on arrival needs to match the Country of residency selected when booking.

I’ll have a play about with VPNs later on and see what I can find.

I mean, for all the booking engine knows is, you currently on holiday in France and simply booking your car hire for the USA.

Has anyone booked a hertz vehicle yet using this site?

If so did you get your Hertz "K" number immediately?

Hoping this way will still allow straight to garage.

All input welcome, thanks

I had a play about using various EU countries, web browsers and a bit of housekeeping of clearing cache, history etc and for my dates I can only see a £5 saving by using a VPN but it’s perhaps that’s because my dates are close?

Certainly not seeing the savings you’re getting.

Country of residence eh?
Well, I suppose it is when you’re on holiday…..
Does it state PERMANENT Residence?
BUT lets not start THAT debate..
Before we know it Jet 2 will have taken the offer away.

On the hertz/Virgin thread someone recently said they took out the “-“ in the K number and it worked. If yours has one.

I have a direct booking with Hertz and it also has K followed by 10 numbers.

Are you logged in to Hertz? Have you signed up or are you using the public facing "View/modify/cancel" menu option?

I've booked via Jet2. Got a full size SUV with Hertz, said I may have to wait 24 hours for Hertz to confirm. So no K number as yet.

I'll update with my findings when the booking is confirmed. Hoping I can see this via the normal Hertz website, if not then probably not a big deal.

Had a look and found the entry point for the code.

Went back in just now and can't find a point to enter the code at all ? Even in Incognito mode ?

EDIT Found it, you need to use the link on Page 1
