I'm pretty sure Martin Lewis said something along the lines of treat car payments as a subscription rather than chasing ownership. Exception being if you're close to retirement and planning on keeping it. Otherwise the maths don't add up if you like a new car every few years. They depreciate so much.

Depends on personal preference and longevity of needing that particular car, I guess.
