Completely agree. Heart-breaking for Angela Carini. Trained all her life and worked hard to end up in this situation. Absolute shambles. You can wave the trans rights flag all day long but if it has dangerous implications on peoples wellbeing and potentially life-threatening implications in a contact sport like boxing or UFC then its time to let common sense stand place over peoples feelings around inclusion.

The athlete is not ‘trans’.
It is a chromosome condition which meant the criteria for boxing as a female was not met by the boxing board but was over ruled by the IOC.
Wrongly reported across the board but I agree should not be fighting in this category.

He isn't actually trans, he was born the way he is, according to reports he was born with testes but they are inside his body, he has no male member and was classified and brought up as a female, YET he has the XY chromosome which means he is the male in gender.
How he was allowed to box in the olympics as a female is beyond me, he has wiped out the career of a female boxer, it's completely wrong, not only dangerous but extremely unfair and this needs addressing .

Is this the same situation that we had with Caster Simenya? that was quite a while ago, they’ve had plenty of time to sort out the rules!

As far as I understand it’s not the same issue. Testosterone levels are not an issue.

He/she and the other one fighting were not tested beforehand for the testosterone levels as they were before the world championship, for which they were banned. Which beggars belief and means in essence that any woman boxer could now go get drugs that enhance testosterone to help them become stronger with the knowledge that they would not be tested for such before their fights ! You couldn't make it up.
That poor Italian girl thought he/she had broken her nose & said she had never been hit so hard.
All that training to get to the Olympics to find your up against the physical strength of a man.
Before anyone with far more medical knowledge comes on to explain the rights or wrongs of my personal knowledge of testosterone, I do know by taking hormone tablets one can lower such but as has been pointed out taking them after puberty means the subject has already gained the physical strength of a male beforehand

I was not aware of the full situation but have looked now so it seems that this boxer was born by the Algerian authorities as a female. From what I read the IBA did not measure testosterone levels they used other non disclosed measurements to decide that he/she could not box. He/she has been beaten by 15 female boxers.

Now I am thinking that this boxer should not be allowed to compete but I can see how the Algerians and the boxer would be upset as what should he/she fight in I assume they would have a massive disadvantage in the male arena simply put can’t compete as a boxer.

Regardless of how strength is built up as teen (lots of publicity over this) but what’s 100% certain is the angle of female hips is a massive disadvantage in sport as genetically female hips are designed for childbirth and male for chasing things. This gives massive advantages in sport regardless of sex.

I also want to add that Italian girl would have been hit far harder by Savannah Mitchell or Clarissa Shields.
