New football season starts today - what are your hopes for your team ?

Yes I realise that we are about a fortnight from when the only league that exists in the minds of most 😀 but Bury FC start their league campaign today .

We really should win the league at a canter. We finished a dozen points ahead of anyone else that was in our league last season and have what appears to be a much stronger squad - only 4 retained from last season .

My hopes are
1 - win the FA Vase . If we go up , this will be our last chance to enter this competition. A trip to Wembley would be great
2 - win the league
3 - Have a decent Fa Cup run - would it be too much to dream of a place in the first round proper ? ( probably , we would have to win 6 ties I think to get there but can only dream
4 - that we get through the season without any more behind closed doors games , without having to ban more ‘fans’ and that the season off the pitch goes smoothly

What are you hopes for the season for your team ?

Arsenal have as yet lost no key players, but are clearly looking to strengthen yet further. It is also a young and developing squad, with a very low average age, yet vast experience.

I realistically do not expect them to win the league unless City are finally dealt with for their 115 FA charges. Financial Fair Play and Transparency in those finances is there for a reason. One season they were chuffed to have Julian Goater up front and the next, they were wanting Messi and Ronaldo in tandem.

Clearly, Chelsea, Liverpool could be strong and challenging rivals for next year, but Chelsea have now sacked Poch , despite the great run at the end of the season whilst Liverpool have a few reaching the end of their Premier League careers, particularly Mo Salah.
Man United? Miles away.

Prediction… 2nd (as I don’t believe in the Integrity of the FA or any other Football ‘Authority’ and suspect brown envelopes).. and a good challenge in the Champions League..

Avoid relegation 😁. Not got much faith in Arne Sloot but I could be misjudging him. Going to be difficult to adjust to life without Jürgen.

Both sides in the wrong here and the stewarding disgraceful and it seemed last season the Bury had lots of incidents other teams didn’t.

No one involved was a squires gate fan Nomis .
There is another video ( can’t link as it’s just on our message board ) of just before this one of fans giving verbals to our chairman and his daughter ( who you see in yellow bury kit to the left of the video above ) hugging her dad for safety .

The lad that came on the pitch that ultimately got hit seemingly is a mate of our new captain ( so not technically a Bury fan but there watching probably his first ever Bury game ) . The bloke doing the hitting is the one I have referred to previously who used to run the stadium. He is one of the ones banned from Gigg Lane for 3 years for going on the pitch at the end of last season at Wythenshawe .
But they can still go to away games and I suspect this won’t be the last of the trouble they cause . Really believe they are now trying to get the club shut down 🥲 despite being so called Bury fans

Please bear in mind the ‘stewarding’ will just be volunteers from squires gate I suspect - not trained paid security from a security firm.

Thanks for explaining.

As I have said before though you need proper security and surely if bury FC made a request to away teams not to allow this guy, or others in they would comply.

I can’t say for sure but the guy who got hit was most likely not totally innocent.

There seemed to be a lot of cases of trouble at Bury last year even at least one involving coaching staff if this can’t be addressed then you may as well give up and let the idiots win. I am amazed that you are allowed to host a match without having SIA registered security present.

We sent a list of all those banned from Gigg to Squires Gate . They asked what they should do with it. BFC seemingly suggested not letting the banned in. Squires started cancelling tickets bought . Then squires realised that the bans weren’t full football banning orders and reinstated the tickets and welcomed them to come ( bet they are regretting that now )

From what I understand the guy that got hit did nothing else other than what was shown on the video but it was still not his finest day - I don’t understand why anyone would want to go on the pitch and look to do what he did.

There is no way the club will let the idiots win . Whether the FA take away that choice is another matter

I might be wrong on this but I understand that for crowds of 1000 or less , official SIA stewards are not required . Squires ground capacity is officially 1000, the match was a sell out and recorded as an attendance of exactly 1000.

You have to bear in mind the level Bury are competing at . many clubs at our level average 100-150 and paid for stewarding is the last thing they could afford or should need

Why don't you have much faith in him?
