Going this Saturday, tried not to see any trailers or spoilers but get the sense it's kinda gone back to its roots

I've seen the trailer a few times but it doesnt really spoil anything insofar as it shows an 'Alien' film playing out pretty much how you would expect it to.

I'm going this weekend for sure.

I've seen all the Alien movies at the cinema (apart from when the 1st one came out, as I was 7 and my parents wouldn't have approved 🤣 . I did see it on the big screen when the director's cut came out).

I can't wait for this new installment.

I loved Prometheus but was very disappointed with Alien Covenant.

Early reviews suggest this one is better!

Just watched Alien again, first time for my youngest daughter. She loved it. I believe Romulus is set after Alien but before Aliens so perfect excuse to watch the original again. Will watch Romulus at the weekend. Not seen anything bar first trailer. Not looking at reviews.

Well, I'm sorry to say this was a crushing disappointment. The only good thing is that the visuals are on point.

Apart from that, the overhype is ridiculous.

Better movies in the franchise (apart from the first two obviously): Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, and Prometheus.

On a par with Alien Covenant, aka the worst movie in the franchise (I'm not counting the Alien vs Predator movies,
although the first one is probably more fun than this!) Actually, Covenant was probably slightly better.

The other only good thing is the return of a classic character.

Avoid.

I have to respectfully disagree. Saw it earlier and loved it. I’ve only seen Alien, Aliens and 3 but thoroughly enjoyed this.

Each to their own I guess.

For what’s it’s worth I haven’t seen any of the 3 for many years but always thought Alien was a little slow, Aliens was brilliant and one of my favourite films at the time and 3 was just ok.

This took me right back to the long departed Alien War at Picadilly Circus, which although it closed over 25 years ago remains one of the best things I’ve ever done in the UK.

I so wanted to love it. Alas.
