We always go for the Gulf coast these days, having done the Disney bit when our boys were young. Even if we're with the grandchildren we split our stay 50/50. There isn't as much entertainment around as in Orlando but the kids love a bit of time on the beach and if you choose a home with a decent pool they will be happy. We usually go for Naples, Bonita Beach or Springs, Englewood area, Sanibel or Anna Maria Island.
Personally I would avoid Ft Myers Beach, we drove through a few times and it reminded us of a Floridian Blackpool. (Sorry if you're a Blackpool fan). Stayed on Rotunda, nice house, plenty of golf courses but a drive for anything else. The beaches are usually great and if you want to see a lovely sunset that's the place to be especially if you can find a nice restaurant to watch it from. |
