Hi everyone, I’m here with laptop and chocolate as I’m booking 1st Orlando Xmas trip for this year!
Have done about 16 hours of research over the last few days! We are very lucky to have been given some money to add to what we have saved so can now book our Florida holiday.
I had NO idea that just to do Universal and Disney would cost us £2500 on park tickets alone! I’m still reeling! |

Welcome to the dibb! Our first trip was a Christmas one and we had a fantastic time. Like you, we bought tickets for all the parks (and Kennedy Space Centre)because it was a once in a lifetime trip so we had to pack it all in. However, you WILL go back, so maybe you could cut down on the tickets to save s bit of money?
Whatever you decide, you will have a wonderful time. Oh, and make sure you have a good supply of chocolate for FP booking day |

Thanks all. What could we cut out? Surely we need to do Disney & Universal and to do both is £2.5k for family of 4 (children are 10 & 16)

If it’s your first and possibly only trip (it won’t be) both tickets are a must.tickets are expensive but you’ll spend so much time in the parks they are worth every penny.have a great trip.

You don’t need to do both, it’s a good excuse to go back and do the ones you’ve missed 😁
You could get the 14 day tickets for one either disney or universal and then a one day entry at the other How long are you going for? |

Tickets are a shocker, I know.
Which to cut (if any) is a really difficult one. Like you, we initially went for our 'one off holiday of a lifetime' ... and in July it will be once in a lifetime visit number 10. We find it easy and no longer buy Disney, preferring DC Ultimates as a first choice and Universal as a second. Every year we have a ballot and for the last 4 visits, that has been the result... but then again, we have visited Disney many times before! If you ditched Disney and just purchased Universal, I honestly believe that you will get bored. Whilst a big fan of Universal, there is no way that it could occupy me for the best part of 14 days. With this in mind, I would suggest that Disney is a must with its 4 main parks and one of the two waterparks open. The decision is imho simply whether you also get the Universal ticket. With boys of 10 and 16, is your youngest going to be over 54inches? To be under 54 inches would restrict the number of Universal rides that he can partake in. For what it is worth, and I am not you, I would spend the next few weeks looking very carefully at the park maps and also utube the major attractions to exhaustion before making any decision. Also bear in mind the cost of carparking at these two franchises if you intend hiring a car.

Christmas at Disney and Universal is Magical and it doesn't matter what age you are, I know its an additional cost but are you going to include mvmcp. And you will also need to start thinking about dinning reservations every where is so busy. Don't forget your ESTA. Enjoy your planning its the build up to a very special Holiday.
