Six Nights At The Waldorf Astoria, New York - Day 1.
My alarm went off at 5:15 so I got showered and dressed before the others got up. The hotel reception called us a taxi and we arrived at the airport in less than 10 minutes. We checked in and dropped our bags before heading to Costa where Mum had a toastie, I had the sickliest hot chocolate ever and Alfie refused to eat anything 😐 We boarded our flight to Heathrow and took off at 9am. We were sat in row 7, I don't have any pictures but I remember the plane was quite nice (not sure why I was expecting it wouldn't be 😳. We landed in T3 at around 09:50 and took the tram to T5. As our gate hadn't opened we had a quick look around duty free but didn't buy anything. We boarded our flight at around 10:50 and Alfie watched Ghostbusters until we pushed back, which was around 40 minutes late due to something to do with the cargo from T3. This made me a bit worried as to whether we'd get our luggage when we arrived at JFK. I managed to sleep until the children's meal was delivered at 1pm. The children's meal was Mac & cheese, bread roll, yogurt, fruit and a Cadbury's Freddo. None of this was eaten as we hit some pretty bad turbulence causing Alfie to vomit several times 😷 I too was feeling quite ill and therefore didn't eat any of my meal. The turbulence lasted for around 45 minutes and it was quite hairy at times, some of the other passengers were gasping and we heard a few muffled screams! The turbulence stopped for around half an hour or so before starting again for around 20 minutes. Some miniature KitKats were brought around about an hour and a half before landing. Alfie and I were starving by this point so we ate ours as well as sharing my Mum's. The plane landed around 14:30 and we couldn't wait to get off! We were through security and on the other side by 3pm. We caught the airlink to Jamaica station and then took the LIRR to Lexington and 53rd Street before walking to the hotel which was only around 5 minutes away. Park Avenue at night We checked in at the hotel and were allocated room 673. The bathroom Alfie got changed and we walked to Johnny Rockets for our evening meal. We all had burgers, they were nice but not as good as the ones in Florida! I had a Fanta float, it was delicious. We paid our bill and walked back to the Waldorf, falling asleep as soon as our head's hit the pillow 😴

What did you think of your room? Was it what you were expecting?
Is this the hotel in Home Alone? |

I loved the room I'd had a look on Trip Advisor before we left the UK so it was what we were expecting and the beds were so comfy.
No, it's not the hotel featured in Home Alone, as far as I know that's The Plaza on 5th Avenue
