Disney Dream Concierge Jan 17th -20th

ok first i need to say this is more of a concierge / suite report than a actual blow by blow trip report

this report/ review gives the lowdown of what to expect if booked in a suite on disney cruise line

so ok down to the details

we are a family of 2 adults in mid 40's with 2 teens and for this 4 night cruise we were booked into a 1 bed suite on deck 12 in concierge

whilst we were looking to concierge i did find it extremely difficult to find a review on this section and it was very difficult to find just what you get for all those additional $$$ i do hope that for those thinking of paying the extra that you will find this report useful

pre arrival info

once booked and paid in full we had both a welcome email and a telephone call from the concierge team asking us if we had any special requests and basically saying they were looking forward to seeing us onboard, our only special request was that our table in the restaurant would be nr a window and that our 2nd nights dinner would not clash with our palo reservation and the animators show night

arrival at the port

normal lines all through security and then check in for concierge is completely seperate and very quiet, it is at the btm right of the terminal and there are 2 desks and a seated area with drinks should you want them, the check in staff were very quick and once we were all checked in you are escorted over to the large mickey ears kept to the far right and handed over to crew member in a white uniform who then basically bypasses all lines and takes you to the front of the picture line and also all the way up to concierge, there is a special seperate line on the right that is sectioned off for you to walk so there's no trying to get past people or excuse me's whilst you bypass all these people and they still announce your family onboard, the crew member does not leave you until she has taken you to the concierge lounge and introduced you to one of the staff in there

arrival into the lounge

everyone very friendly, 3 people in suits which are the official onboard concierge team and 2 other staff members one being a barman and the other a food/ server person, we were welcomed and asked if we would like to help ourself to food and Shaun the barman came over to say hello and to see if we would like a cocktail or champagne etc, he made the kids non alcoholic cocktails and they took these up onto the sundeck and went off to explore, very soon after having our first drinks in hand we had Ashley one of the concierge come over to introduce himself and bring us a personalised itinerary and basically tell us what was available in the lounge, pre dinner drinks, about the food, internet, ipad rentals etc, he was very nice and pretty much said they like a challenge and want us to have a extra special time so pretty much if something was missing or if something could be done to bring a little extra disney magic during the cruise then "ask away" and they will see what they can do

the spa manager is also in the lounge the first day to arrange any treatments you want or to answer and questions re exsisting bookings

we drank a few cocktails in the lounge, ate some lovely snacky things which were very much a la carte items and my son the coffee lover soon had the coffee machine sussed and then it was off for everyone to check out our room (room pics and details to follow)

our overall experience of the lounge was that nothing was too much trouble, the food was not overwhelming and by this i mean that it was never too much in that you felt oh no i cannot try that, it's just a hour until dinner, Michelle our lovely foodperson/ sever was great with the kids getting marshmallows for my sons hot chocolate and also special "one off" sushi for my daughter, concierge also ordered syrups for my son when they heard him talk about his favourite coffees (the syrups took about 4 hours to arrive from conversation to lounge), Shaun the barman was pretty much a cocktail genius if you were not sure of what you wanted he would say let me suprise you and he was happy to whisk up smoothies, non alcoholic cocktails for the kids, i'm not a big cocktail drinker so after finding out i like tia maria or amaretto when i do drink and loving a challenge, off he would go shaking up some new lethal concoction that was always both naughty and nice, nice being a understatement for the last few nights Shaun was training up Kat from the uk, Kat was from cove cafe and when i said they make a very nice espresso martini in the cove i found myself having to judge who could make the best when they had a friendly competiton between the two of them it was lots of fun !

the lounge had a tv for the kids showing silent disney classic cartoons, dvds to take to your room, ipads to again take away on a free rental, board games, magazines and each restaurants menu for you to browse pre dinner

there's also a very special book in the doorway of this lounge and pretty much any cruiser can ring the bell at concierge and ask to sign this it is a huge brown book with cream antique looking pages and there is a large feather quill and you have sections (a bit like individual postcards imprinted onto the pages) to put your names, dates, your cruise and what you are celebrating

the concierge sundeck

what can i say the deck is a gorgeous, private and very quiet space to relax on, the mister station is a very nice touch you can either sit at the station or lie/ sit nearby to feel this and it's lovely to lay there and be cooled without being soaked through

they also have a shower, sunscreen, bottles of water and cold iced face towels up here for you to refresh yourself

i had two lazy afternoons up here in total relaxation snoozing away in one of those hooded chairs

our 1 bed suite

oh my it was amazing, we had a "bump out balcony" on deck 12
there was a queen bedroom with 3 fold back/ dividing doors which completely enclosed the bedroom from the dining and sofa area, the sofa converted into a double bed and in the hall area nr the desk the suite also had a pull down single wall bed (this again was seperated from the sofa sleeping area by a curtain and the main bedroom by sliding doors)

on entering the suite on the first right there was the first bathroom with a seperate shower, toilet and single sink
2nd right was a closet with top and btm pull out rails
3rd right was a walk in wardrobe with bathrobes slippers and safe, this wardrobe was big enough for our 3 lge empty cases and lots of clothes, opposite this was another small closet with a pull out rail &
ottoman to sit on and this was pretty much all the rooms/ doors coming off the hallway area of the suite
then we had a small desk area with chair and the wall bed was folded up here, then it was curtained to one side and we then had a lounge with sofa and 2 chairs, tv, dvd player and fridge in sideboard with a table and 4 chairs behind this

the main bedroom had a queen bed with 4 pull out drawers underneath, bedside cabinets and dressing table stool, tv dvd player

the main bathroom had a seperate toilet and shower, the showers were both std head and rainfall, the bathroom had a huge jacuzzi tub also with a shower attachment, twin sinks and a tv in the mirror

the bath was HUGE a good 4ft wide and approx 5ft something long

the balcony had two loungers, a table and 3 chairs, like i said it was a "bump out" so had slightly more space than the average size for a 1bed suite

pics and paperwork gift info in next post

the paperwork bits

for those who wish to see the more detailled bits of concierge here are some pictures of the onboard paperwork hopefully it's not too blurry for those who want to enlarge to see details of cocktail/ pre dinner drink hours and all the lounge details etc

and finally

our lovely suprise last day gift

a signed limited edition lithograph, i had a complete panic when i saw this mainly because i thought how the heck will i get this home but thanks to a very nice girl in a ups store coming to the rescue when all the mailing tubes were sold out we got it rolled, packaged and home safely now i just need to frame it for my disney wall

have to say in conclusion to all of this when we made the decision to upgrade to concierge we had a choice to make, we had our christmas and my birthday money to spend and our choices were a prem econ upgrade for 4 or this, we decided on this and saved almost £200 in the process, i think we got the better deal because it really made the cruise extra special

Fantastic ... Thank you so much for doing this!
We will definitely do concierge at one point but will wait until we cruise on our own I think.

Thank you .. Loved the photos!

My, it looks amazing!

Thank you so much for this, Mazz, we have not long booked a family concierge with a bump out balcony on deck 12 and yours is the first picture I've seen of the larger balcony.

Can I ask whether you had to pay for the alcohol and non alcoholic smoothies in the lounge? I've read that they are free for 45 minutes or so prior to dinner seatings, was this your experience?

can you give a rough idea of the tidbits on offer throughout the day?

did you order room service?

Once again thanks for the pictures and detail.

Wow. I thought in general DCL staterooms were big, but your suite was huge - I wouldn't know what to do with all that space!
