Travelling with a baby!
Hey,
We are due to return to Disney staying on site next Dec (hopefully!) with our first who will be around 9 months by then. Does anyone have any advice/tips on travelling with a baby? I’ve already read a few trip reports. Also what is the pram situation in the airport? Can we take a pram to the gate or do we have to check it in? 😊 Thanks x |

I’ve not been with a baby that young, but you take the pram to the gate with you... but at the other end, it comes out with the cases, so you may want to get a baby carrier for the airport...no ideas what one as I’ve never used one...

Buggy gets a label at check in and drop it by the gate, it varies where but someone will tell you. Pick it up at the oversize luggage area as it won't be going round with suitcases (hopefully).
We bought a barely used baby bjorn one carrier off Facebook and actually sold it for same price as we bought it for! You will need a good one for sure. These milk pots are good for milk and Mam bottles have lasted us well. . amazon/MAM-Powder-...662 10&sr=8-4 |

Hey, we were supposed to be travelling with our son at 6 months old, back in March - it was cancelled... and we’ve rescheduled for next March but we managed to squeeze a trip to Greece earlier this month, just before he turned one.
Yes, you can take your pushchair all the way to the gate, but as the previous poster mentioned, you don’t get it back until the luggage carousel so we used a carrier to help get us off the plane and through the immigration queue (Greece queues admittedly shorter than Orlando!). Definitely get a pram fan, we wish we’d had one for Greece - it got super sweaty in the pushchair for him, December will be a bit cooler but the fan should help take the edge off the heat enough for him to nap. We had pretty busy mornings and then relaxed afternoons - it allowed Elliott to nap in his cot and we just lounged on the terrace with a few drinks while he got a decent sleep in. Then he was amenable to spending time out in the evening. Elliott is quite a tall baby, so I also wish we’d got him his own seat rather than him being a lap infant, we’ll certainly do that for Florida. Just means you can have a drink and something to eat instead of spending time between you and your other half wrestling a fidgety baby If they have a comforter - definitely pack a spare. Elliott’s fell out of our bag somewhere between getting off the plane and getting to the baggage carousel. He was pretty ok about it, but it was stress and upset that I could have done without - so a spare would have been ideal. In terms of security, we didn’t have any dramas taking milk or food pouches through for him, lots of snacks for the flight kept him busy... As for routine, we just stuck as near to his normal food and nap times as we could - and by 2 days in he’d adjusted to the time difference, suspect it will take a bit longer in Florida, but we’re hoping the familiarity of his routine will help him over the jet lag. Milton tablets were lifesavers for sterilising bottles and dummies - don’t know if you’re in a hotel room or villa... so if you have a dishwasher clearly that’s not an issue |

Just remembered, when I was on a flight once, a couple with a little one took a pillow on board, then the baby could lay across both of their laps in comfort, and slept a good while. 🙂

We took our son at 12 months. As above a carrier is very helpful (will still take one for this and he is nearly 3!) We found the journey out there fine, but back was tough as he was tired but could not sleep, so was very upset. We just helped how we could (feeding, Calpol) until he did. We loved the trip and all had a great time. Well worth the hard flight! Buy bits like milk and snacks from boots and click and collect to get them after security. Disney is great at any age. We where amazed at how much he enjoyed at this age.

We took our baby at 9 months and it was a great trip! We used an Integra Solar sling as it’s lovely and lightweight for the Florida heat and DD was happy.
I breastfed so didn’t need to worry about formula and DD just ate bits off our plate at meals. |

Hiya , we took ours at 16 months and I must admit I would have preferred it / it would have been alot easier if she was 9 months ! As they probably wont be walking by that age you may find you can get places a little quicker 😉 they are much easier to carry too so if they get a little whingey you can just whip them out nice and easy. They can also just nibble off your plates for dinner so no added cost at meal time etc.
The best thing we did was do a grocery order using Instacart for the day we arrived , we put things in there such as her milk, baby snacks , fruit (bananas were great for breakfast etc ) so that we didn't have to pack these things and worry too much about getting through US security as they can be quite strict / won't allow certain things. It was a mini fridge in the Disney hotel rooms but we managed to fit quite a bit in there ! You will have a great time ! |
